Ichimoku Bullish strategy

Strong Ichimoku bullish setup with multiple confirmations

What is the Ichimoku Bullish?

Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is a complete trend system rather than a single indicator. It plots the Tenkan-sen, a 9-period midpoint line; the Kijun-sen, a 26-period midpoint; two leading spans that together form the cloud, or Kumo, projected 26 periods ahead; and the Chikou Span, the current close plotted 26 periods back. Reading all of them together tells you trend direction, momentum, and support and resistance at a glance.

Crypto traders value Ichimoku because it handles trending markets well and because the cloud provides dynamic support that adapts to volatility. A bullish Ichimoku setup with several components agreeing is one of the more robust long signals in technical analysis, and the Sindex scanner is designed to surface only those multi-confirmation cases.

How the Ichimoku Bullish works

Sindex computes Ichimoku with the standard 9, 26 and 52 periods and a 26-period displacement, using at least 80 candles of history. It then evaluates five components on the latest bar. A TK cross, Tenkan closing above Kijun after being at or below it, earns 35 points; Tenkan simply above Kijun without a fresh cross earns 15. Price closing above the cloud top earns 25, while price inside the cloud earns 10.

Chikou confirmation, meaning the current close is above the close from 26 bars earlier, adds 15 points. A bullish Kumo twist, where Span A moves above Span B after being below it, adds 20; a cloud that is already green adds 10. Finally, if the TK cross came after a pullback into the cloud or Kijun within the last five candles, a 10-point bonus is applied for the improved risk-reward.

A symbol appears only when the total reaches 50 or more and at least one strong trigger is present: either a fresh TK cross, or price above the cloud combined with a Kumo twist. The signal description lists which components fired, so you can see whether you are looking at a full-confirmation setup or a minimal one. The strategy runs on all timeframes from 15m to 1d; Ichimoku is traditionally read on 4h and higher.

Rules

Entry rules

  • Prefer setups where the description shows a TK cross together with price above the cloud and Chikou confirmation.
  • Enter on the close of the signal bar, or on a pullback to the Tenkan or Kijun that holds.
  • Check that the future cloud, 26 bars ahead, is green and ideally rising.
  • A pullback-entry tag in the signal indicates price recently touched the cloud or Kijun, which often gives a tighter stop.
  • Confirm the higher timeframe cloud is not directly overhead as resistance.

Exit rules

  • Initial stop below the Kijun-sen or below the cloud bottom, depending on how tight you want the trade.
  • Trail the stop behind the Kijun-sen as the trend develops; a close below Kijun is a common exit.
  • The setup is invalidated if Tenkan crosses back below Kijun or price closes inside the cloud from above.
  • Take partial profit when price becomes very stretched above the Tenkan-sen, since Ichimoku trends often revert to it.

Best conditions

  • When all four core components agree: TK cross, price above cloud, Chikou above price, green cloud.
  • Just after a Kumo twist on the 4h or daily chart, marking a longer-term trend change.
  • When the cloud ahead is thick and rising, offering strong support beneath price.
  • During trending market phases; Ichimoku is far less useful in tight ranges.

Pitfalls

  • Signals with only a TK cross and price inside the cloud are weak and frequently reverse.
  • Ichimoku generates many false crosses in sideways markets where the cloud is thin and flat.
  • Lower-timeframe setups can be fighting a bearish cloud on the daily chart.
  • Risk reminder: the cloud can be far below price, and a stop placed there may be too wide for leveraged positions; adjust size, not the stop.

Ichimoku Bullish FAQ

What Ichimoku settings does Sindex use?
The standard 9, 26, 52 periods with a 26-period displacement, calculated on highs and lows. The scanner needs at least 80 candles of history for each symbol and timeframe.
How many confirmations are required for a signal?
The weighted score must reach at least 50 and the setup must include either a fresh TK cross or price above the cloud plus a bullish Kumo twist. The signal text lists which components contributed.
Is Ichimoku suitable for short timeframes in crypto?
It works mechanically on 15m and 30m charts, but the cloud is less meaningful there and whipsaws are frequent. Most Ichimoku practitioners focus on 4h, 12h and daily charts.
Can I backtest Ichimoku rules in Sindex?
Yes. Algo Forge lets you combine Ichimoku conditions with stops and targets and test them against historical futures data.
